Back in 1970....
...a fella by the name of Henry Mott bought a brand new 4 door Chevrolet Nova from Hal Warren Chevrolet in Hannahan,South Carolina. It have options such as factory A/C, P/S, and and 350 engine. It didnt have many options. It had 4 wheel drum (manual) brakes, an AM radio with one speaker in the front dash. Mr Mott used this car as a daily driver for about 15 years (but he only put 42,000 miles on it!). He took good care of his car changing the oil regularly and having it inspected. In the late 80's his health began to fail and he died.He left the car to his son in his will. His son parked it behind a shed under a tree for about 8-10 years. The last tags on it date to 1992. But he said he never drove it. He was going to fix it up for his son one day and never got around to it. So one dat early in 2001 he stopped by our shop and asked my dad if we wanted to but a Nova with 42000 miles for 500$. My dad then came home and told me about the car because he knew i wanted to restore a car.I said that i wasnt interested because it was a 4-door. So my dad discussed it with the fella. He was selling his house so he needed it out of the yard. My dad agreed to come pick it up ancd leave it behind our shop until he could sell it. So one day i went with my dad to pick up the car and i was amazed of how good of shape it was in.I had no idea a 4 door car could look that good. So i told my dad he should buy the car and so he did.He told me that if i got my high school diploma that i could have the car. So i dropped out of my sernior year of high school(because i would have fell a few credits short) and took the G.E.D test and got my diploma. The Nova is currently under restoration. The mileage read 42,452 when it entered my driveway.
